A Memorable Journey:
Presenting at the 6th China-CEEC (Cangzhou) SME Cooperation Forum
Last week, I had the distinct privilege of attending and presenting at the 6th China-CEEC (Central and
Eastern European Countries) SME Cooperation Forum held in Cangzhou, China. It was an experience that
underscored the profound opportunities that arise from international collaboration, especially among
small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Setting the Stage in Cangzhou:
Cangzhou, a bustling city in China’s Hebei province, served as the perfect backdrop for this significant
forum. Known for its deep cultural heritage and modern industrial prowess, the city embodies the very
essence of collaboration between tradition and innovation.
The forum, hosted under the theme "Shared Vision, Shared Prosperity," was a dynamic platform for
delegates from China and CEEC to explore partnerships, share insights, and forge connections that
transcend borders. With over 200 SMEs, policymakers, and industry leaders in attendance, the
atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and mutual respect.
My Role Sharing Insights:
Being invited to present at such a prestigious event was an honor and a responsibility. My presentation
focused on Remanufacturing & Electrification of non-road mobile Machinery (REM) focusing on the
environmental benefits and the potential to promote sustainability.
One of the key messages I conveyed emphasised the importance of establishing a recognised and
accredited standard for safety and quality, highlighting how this could pave the way for advancing future
remanufacturing projects.
Key Takeaways from the Forum
Collaborative Opportunities:
The discussions revealed numerous areas where SMEs from China and CEEC could synergise,
including renewable energy, smart manufacturing, and sustainable agriculture. The forum
highlighted how complementary strengths could be harnessed to tackle global challenges like
climate change and supply chain disruptions.
Policy Support:
Policymakers from both regions emphasised their commitment to facilitating trade, reducing
barriers, and fostering innovation. It was reassuring to see how governments recognise the
pivotal role of SMEs in driving economic growth.
Networking and Exchange:
Beyond the presentations and panels, the forum provided invaluable opportunities to meet
fellow entrepreneurs, exchange ideas, and establish meaningful partnerships. The matchmaking
sessions were particularly effective in connecting businesses with potential collaborators.
Exploring Cangzhou
No trip to Cangzhou would be complete without experiencing its cultural treasures. During breaks, I had
the chance to visit the city’s iconic Iron Lion and savor its renowned local cuisine. These moments of
cultural immersion added a personal touch to the professional trip, making it truly unforgettable.
Looking Ahead
As the forum concluded, it became evident that the relationships and insights gained here are just the
beginning. The potential for collaboration between China and CEEC SMEs is vast, and events like these
serve as vital catalysts for sustained growth and mutual benefit.
For me, the experience was a reminder of the power of connection and the possibilities that emerge
when diverse perspectives come together. I left Cangzhou inspired, with new ideas, partnerships, and a
renewed commitment to fostering international cooperation.
I look forward to seeing the outcomes of this forum unfold in the months and years ahead, and I remain
optimistic about the future of China-CEEC collaboration.
